Cochineal Process

I made a strong cochineal bath for making some pink and purple yarn for my installation.

I soaked the yarn overnight in a mild detergent, and then pre mordanted in alum (aluminum potassium sulfate and let it soak overnight to get the rest of the mordant in there.

I dyed it in cochineal with no mordant in the pot on a simmer and let it sit overnight in the pot. It blended beautifully with the indigo
